Common questions

Do I actually need a water treatment system?

Only if a test says you do. We start with lab results, then recommend equipment only when it will make a measurable difference. Some homes need nothing; others need a targeted point-of-use fix rather than whole-house treatment.

What's the difference between a water softener and a whole-house filter?

A softener removes calcium and magnesium (hardness) to stop scale and improve soap performance. A whole-house filter targets specific contaminants — sediment, iron, chlorine, odor, or specific chemicals — depending on the media. Many homes need both, but for different reasons.

Do I need reverse osmosis (RO)?

RO is the most effective point-of-use system for drinking water — it reduces arsenic, lead, nitrates, PFAS, sodium, and dissolved solids. If your lab report shows any of these at levels of concern, RO under the kitchen sink is usually the right first step.

How does UV disinfection work?

A UV system passes water through a chamber where a UV-C lamp inactivates bacteria and viruses. It's chemical-free, essentially maintenance-free (one lamp change per year), and the industry standard when a well has any history of coliforms.

How often does equipment need service?

Softener salt: check monthly. RO filters: annually. UV lamp: annually. Sediment pre-filters: every 3-6 months depending on your water. A full system checkup once a year catches small problems before they become expensive ones.

What warranty do you offer?

WellInsight backs installation workmanship with a 12-month warranty in addition to the manufacturer's equipment warranty.

Will a softener make my water salty?

No. Softening replaces hardness minerals with a very small amount of sodium — typically far below the threshold you can taste. If sodium intake is a concern, we can install a potassium-based softener or an RO drinking water system that removes both.

Can I install equipment myself?

You can, but professional installation matters more than most people think — sizing, sequencing (order of the equipment), bypass and drain plumbing, and startup all affect performance and warranty. WellInsight is WQA-certified and every install includes a walk-through so you know how to run and maintain the system.
